To start previewing 

index.htm

 in more than one browser, from the main 

menu,

  File,   Preview in Browser,   Preview in 

Multiple Browsers

This should open 

index.htm

 in both IE and Netscape, allowing you to 

switch back and forth between the browsers and examine your current page 

in both.

Close all open browser applications and return to FrontPage.

Publishing to the Web

Now we're ready to publish our files to the Web so that others may view them. 

It is important to understand that we used some special features in FrontPage, 

such as themes and the photo gallery, that rely on hidden files. FrontPage has 

embedded many of these files in the Site folder, which makes them difficult to 

transfer individually. The most efficient way to ensure that all of the hidden 

files are moved with our main files is to simply copy over the entire 

SAR 

Site 

folder as it exists on the local computer. 

NOTE: Users who plan to use FrontPage Server Extensions need to follow 

specific instructions for moving files rather than those listed below.

For files to be available on the World Wide Web, they need to be published on 

a 

Web server

. A Web server is a software system that receives requests from 

clients (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) and sends the 

requested files back to the clients.

Web Servers at IU Bloomington, IUPUI and IUN

There are three main Web servers for the IUB, IUN and IUPUI campuses: 

Champion, Veritas, 

and 

Steel

. Champion is only available to IUPUI depart 

ments, instructors, and official student groups for hosting their Web site, and 

Veritas serves the same role for the IUB and IUN campuses. However, Steel is 

available to all faculty, staff and students at the IUB, IUN and IUPUI cam 

puses for their personal Web pages.
