Deselect the horizontal line.

You see the color applied to the line.

Now let's use a keyboard shortcut to position the cursor so the text will be 

centered.

To position the cursor at the end of the document, press:

 +i

Now to center the cursor in the middle of this line, press:

 +E

Now let's enter the first line of footer text.

To begin entering the footer, type: 

Last Updated: Day Month Year 

Inserting a Line Break

Notice that the last action created a new paragraph preceded by a blank line. 

We don't want this extra space between each line of the footer, nor do we want 

each line of the footer to be a separate paragraph. Instead, we'll insert a 

line 

break

, also called a 

soft return

. This way the entire footer will comprise one 

paragraph, with a line break between each line.

First let's remove the new paragraph.

To remove the new paragraph, press:

O

Now let's insert a line break.

2.

To insert a line break at the end of the first line, press: 

 + 

Instead of forcing a new paragraph break, the Shift + Enter key combination 

gives us a single line break.
