The library is also working with volunteers to create community based net sites for the
suburbs. These sites feature events, advice (e.g., for gardeners) and list companies in the
area. The library is also working with the University Library on an images project.
Another library sponsored project is the Tampere history project
(http://www.history.tampere.fi/main.htm) where people can write their own biographies
and memoirs online. There are twenty volunteers, mainly senior citizens, who are
involved in this project. It is used as a specific example of why people should learn to
use the Internet.
A business card is to be available in the autumn, which will connect the library s LMS
Pallas with the card system, and will allow parking and entrance to swimming pools as
well as library membership. This is a city only card, and will not be a smart card.
The library is responsible for Netti Nysse, the Internet bus that provides access and

microwave technology for connection to the Internet. Four library staff members
provide training. The bus seats 10 15 people, and is used at festivals and special events,
