Technology Planning

Another indication a foundation has an appropriate technology planning process is 

whether the foundation has periodic technology audits to evaluate the existing 

technology. More than 50 percent of foundations have never had a technology audit (152 

of 301) and 29 percent (43 of 149) of those reporting having audits responded to having 

annual audits; most have no set schedule (51%, or 76 of 149).

Finally, with respect to planning, it appears that most grantmakers lack the in house 

capability to do technology planning. This is substantiated by data from the survey in 

response to the question,  For planning, do you want external assistance with any of the 

following?  The number one response, with 78 percent responding, was  examples of
