C. Family Foundations Snapshot

Similar to community foundations, family foundations differ greatly on how fast they 

adopt new technology, with nearly half (49%) of family foundations describing 

themselves as fast followers (Table A 3). The remaining organizations were pretty evenly 

divided between leading edge/early adopters (23%) and lagging behind (25%). Regarding 

technology planning, family foundations lag behind the other foundation types, with most 

(89%) family foundations reporting that they do not have an up to date technology plan 

(Table A 4).
